Let's take this one, together
Sleeping trouble
Sleep is one of the most common struggles for kids on the spectrum: falling asleep, staying asleep, waking too early. It's exhausting for them and for you, and it isn't anyone's fault.
Try this
- 1
Follow the same wind-down every night: same order, same time, dim lights, quiet voices.
- 2
Offer the same comfort object or blanket in the same spot every night.
- 3
If they're awake at 3 a.m., keep the lights low and the house boring: no screens, no chatter.
Not this
- ✕
Don't battle bedtime with lots of talking; tired brains can't process words.
- ✕
Don't bring them into bright, busy rooms to 'wear them out' at night.
- ✕
Don't expect every night to look the same. Progress is a direction, not a schedule.
You can't make sleep happen. You can only make it easy for sleep to find them.
